The Fulton Mall Reconstruction Project transformed a six-block pedestrian mall in downtown Fresno, restoring the original Fulton Street layout from before 1964. American Paving Co. led the $23 million redevelopment, which included demolishing the existing mall, reconstructing roadways and sidewalks, and updating major intersections. The project featured the careful removal, conservation, and reinstallation of 32 public art pieces and the restoration of 16 water features. With a focus on preserving historical buildings and managing environmental requirements, the team conducted extensive pre-construction surveys and creative engineering solutions to address unexpected basement discoveries and aging utilities.
